Guilty Pleasure

No, not that kind of 'Guilty Pleasure'...

...but guilty as charged, I enjoy watching Disney Channel's Shake it Up only for the fashions (not because it 'takes place in Chicago'...) I think Bella Thorne is gorgeous and I love her red hair:

ok so aside from my obsession with her red-but-not-quite-ginger-y ability to pull off blunt bangs and always have those effortless loose curls, i'm impressed by her and her co-star Zendaya's ability to pull off the colorfully layered look... I mean they are like 16 so obvs if i wore most of these things, it would look horrendously tacky. But I shan't lie, i like looking at their clothes, it's fresh and exciting.

I mean so maybe they're a little tacky sometimes but the concepts are what I like about them. I have always loved layering and I can never get the layering prints thing right, so I like seeing these clothes. Although I don't particularly like this show, I like the clothes and would probably wear a large portion of them :)

Music : 07082012

So here's some music to get you geared up for the hot weather (although i'm aware it's already July and really freakin toasty)

1) The Gambler - fun.
Saw these guys fo free at Wicker Park fest a couple of years ago for the birthday (yes this is my i-knew-them-before-you-did post, what of it). This is probably one of the sweetest songs i've ever heard. It just makes you happy and makes you think and tells a story, i like that.
And even though she moved away, we always get calls from our daughter
She has has eyes just like her father, they are blue when skies are grey

2) Small Moments Like These - Above & Beyond
This video is what really makes this so special. I really want to see A&B live and this is why. The video along with the music shows the beautiful side of EDM and the beautiful faces of all the people in the crowds. It shows people crying and I know I'd be right there with them if I ever saw You Got To Go live. You can't help but smile after watching this and hearing the clip of Sun and Moon being sung at the top of the lungs of thousands of happy people.

3) Believe - Justin Bieber
#SorryNotSorry for being a belieber. It's a nice power ballad, inspirational and all, not exactly a summer dance jam but Pitbull's got that (unfortunately) taken care of for the next several years. This is just a nice song that is uplifting and I think it's a nice thank you to his fans.
Cause everything starts from something, but something would be nothing
Nothing if your heart didn't dream with me
Where would I be, if you didn't believe?

4) Language - Porter Robinson
A really nice electronic piece with some progressive house, some techno, and a whole lot to dance to. It reminds me of a cliched summer night and it's a peaceful sort of song, it inspires me somehow to just do whatever and I can't wait to see this live at Lollapalooza!

5) How We Do (Party & Bullshit) - Rita Ora
Ok so not only is Rita Ora gorgeous, has an awesome accent and has amazing style, this song is also a great party song (well, obviously). It's a carefree summer party song, a classic. Alcohol, partying, and nighttime shenanigans on the avenue... sounds like a good time to me! Not the most intellectual lyrics but why would you want that for a summer party song. The one thing that I love most about this song: It hasn't been ruined by Pitbull.
I wanna party & bullshit with you
So a couple weeks ago, my friends and i went to this place near downtown Chicago called Zed 451 and let me just tell you-best bacon in Chicago (if we aren't counting David Burke's Primehouse). Sat & Sunday brunch. All you can eat. flat rate of $30. Amazing. Highly recommended.

Happy Summer! I've been home for about a week now and oh lord I forgot much humidity sucks. I realize this outfit makes me look about 4, but whateva whateva.

I bought this shirt because one time I was in Mann Library at Cornell with my sister and I was bored and restless so I started rocking back in forth in a non-rocking chair... I looked quite the fool but I just really did not care. I hope to keep it chill this summa yay.

Spring, Please be Stylish

LOVING: Denim vests. A little old school, alot edgy. They can translate year-round and are definitely cute for summer, think bandeau and high-waisted shorts for a concert, t-shirt and a-line skirt for those Starbucks dates (with a boy, your friend, or your laptop, I won't judge).

(Left) : Cropped Railroad Striped Vest (Forever 21, $22.90) (Right) : ASOS Denim Gilet in Dip-Dye (asos.com, $62.67)

OVER: Fur vests. Can we not. I was never a fan but i'm especially over it now.

LOVING: Full Skirts: Full, flouncy, flirty, perfect for the warm weather. They're perfect for daytime and can definitely be dressed up for night. They're light enough to carry you throughout the entire day. Not all skirts have to be the $5.80 bodycon ones from Forever 21 (But they're so cheap....)

(Left) : All Over Lace Skirt (romwe.com, $37.99) (Right) : Chain Print Skirt (topshop, $56)

OVER: bodycon skirts. I'm going to class/the mall/my friend's house/the store/the movies/etc, NOT the club.

LOVING: BRIGHT FOOTWEAR! Definitely a do for this season, only thing is, if you're gonna have people looking down there, make sure your feet look pretty! Sandals, pumps, flats, (do JC litas come in brights?), just be careful not to cross the line to neon....

(Left) : Tova Patent Sandals (J. Crew, $98) (Right) : Melissa Ultragirl (Akira, $70)

OVER: Booties in Spring/Summer. Please no, they look heavy, chunky and will weigh you down and in general, they kinda make you look stumpy (unless you've got Miley Cyrus' legs....)
